Types of Sedation For Dentistry

Find out how sedation dentistry can help you – click here to schedule a sedation consultation.

Thanks to the major advancements in sedation dentistry, a trip to the dentist can be a relaxed, comfortable experience. Whether you’ve fear and anxiety about just walking into a dental office or you need sedation dentistry in order to have extensive procedures or dental surgery performed, we have a variety of options available for you.

We offer 3 different types of sedation dentistry!

Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry – Better known as “laughing” gas, nitrous oxide can help you relax during your visit to the dentist. Typically, it is used in conjunction with Novocain (a numbing agent).  In fact, we even offer this option for pediatric sedation dentistry. Nitrous oxide is a gentle option for both children and adults with little to no side effects.

Oral Sedation Dentistry – Thanks to oral sedation dentistry, you can take a pill and “sleep” through your visit to the dentist, with little or no memory of your dental appointment after it’s  over. You’re conscious throughout the procedure, but comfortable and relaxed, with an hour passing as if it were a minute. Throughout your dental visit, we monitor your pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen levels to ensure your safety.

IV Sedation Dentistry – With IV sedation, we administer general anesthesia through an IV in your arm. Throughout your dental visit, we monitor your pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen levels to ensure your safety.

In your dental consultation, one of our sedation dentists will be happy to thoroughly explain all of the sedation dentistry options, talk about how sedation is administered, help ease your nerves about sedation, and assist you with finding the type of sedation that is right for you.
