We Love Children

Not all dental offices love to see children, but we do!
Because we realize that a child’s first dental visit can be the most important one, we take extra time and effort to make sure that it’s a special one. The best time to schedule the first dental visit is right around the age of three years. We’re dedicated to making each dental visit a comfortable, pleasant one!
If children are introduced to dentistry in a positive way and have positive experiences, they typically won’t be afraid of the dentist.
But some children do have anxiety about visiting the dentist, often even if there seemingly is no reason for it. We offer gentle dental care, and we also have the option of administering nitrous oxide.
Also known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a mild sedative, which is administered through a mask that fits over the nose. Laughing gas has been in use in dental offices since the mid-1800s, and it can be a great option for children (and adults, too).
Laughing gas can be particularly helpful for kids who:
• have had a bad experience at the dentist
• have a strong gag reflex
• have a physical handicap or disability that makes it hard to tolerate dental treatment
• have mild or severe anxiety
• don’t like to be touched
• have to undergo complex dental treatment
Please make note that our dental office also offers two other types of sedation (IV sedation and oral sedation), but we don’t use these on young children. We can, however, use oral sedation on children who are twelve or older.
