Make The Most Of Your Dental Insurance

We accept dental insurance from most PPOs. We don’t accept dental insurance from HMOs.
If you have dental insurance – either paid for by your employer or yourself – below are a few tips for making the most of your insurance benefits.
Dental Insurance Benefits Year: It is important to know when your benefits year begins and ends. For most dental insurance plans, but not all, the benefits year is the same as a calendar year (January 1 – December 31). Dental insurance plans do have a limit to how much they’ll pay out in a given benefits year, and if you do not use the benefits, they will be lost forever. Toward the end of the year, we’ll often help patients plan and schedule treatment to capitalize on their dental insurance offerings.
Maximum Dental Insurance Benefits: Check your plan to see what your maximum benefits are per benefits year. Many plans cap out at $1,500 per year or less. Once you reach your benefits limit, you will have to wait until the following year to receive your additional benefits.
In Network Dental Providers: We accept most types of dental insurance plans. Whatever insurance plan you have, we will be happy to check on your benefits for you. In some cases, the difference between being “in network” and “out of network” isn’t extreme. Some patients choose us, even though they may be out of network, because of our gentle care and the sedation dentistry that we offer (nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation).
Exams and Cleanings: Most dental insurance plans will cover exams and cleanings every six months, so it’s important to watch when you’re scheduling these to make sure that at least six months have elapsed between your appointments.
