Overcoming Dental Anxiety

An estimated 60% of adults express some anxiety about coming in for a dental visit. Other people experience a fear of the dentist that’s so intense that they simply avoid treatment altogether, even when it’s urgently needed.

No one is born with an automatic fear of the dentist. Instead, most fear is learned behavior which may have come from other people’s fears being passed on or from a firsthand traumatic experience in childhood. Most often, people express fear of shots / needles and fear of and drilling. The more anxious someone becomes, the lower the tolerance for discomfort, which creates a vicious cycle.

At Meadows Dental Group, we have some of the best techniques available for helping patients overcome dental anxiety, including gentle care, open communication, and 3 types of sedation dentistry (laughing gas, oral sedation, and IV sedation).

Every visit to the dentist can and should be a positive one, and we do everything we can to ensure that’s true.

To schedule a free dental consultation, when you can talk about your fears with one of our “pain free dentists,” please call (303) 993-1454.

Please note: Dr. O’Leary and Dr. Peppler are both experienced sedation dentists.
